Matthew 18

v. 15-20

We continue, here, to see the importance of having a repentant heart through childlike faith. Our pride in sin is killed and we experience sanctification within the context of Christ’s church. We also have a responsibility to our brothers and sisters to lovingly show them their faults concerning sin so that they will dwell more richly in Christ.

Whatever we bind on Earth through church discipline shall be bound in heaven and whatever is loosed has already been loosed. When there is agreement and proper facts are provided, the Father is already working out the result from Heaven. It shall be bound and has been loosed.

We receive this encouragement- Christ is with us when we have to address the sins of our brothers and sisters according to His word. He does not leave us alone. Indeed, He is the one working discipline in and through His people. In church discipline, we are the living parable of God’s sanctifying work and it is He who accomplishes the result.
